Below you will find my personal Peavey Valveking 112 review.

The Valveking 112 combo is a 50 watt all tube guitar amplifier available at a price of a solid state amp. I have to admit that I was a little bit sceptical when I first saw this amp, as the unbelievebely low price made me wonder if it was any good. To my amazement, it turned out that the Peavey Valveking 112 sounds like the amps that cost at least twice as much.

The combo has two channels with seperate EQ sections for each. There are also global presence and resonance controls, as well as a reverb. There’s also a volume boost feature on the lead channel, which is definitely useful for solos. It’s good to know that both channels as well as the boost function are footswitchable. The footswitch, however, is not included, which on the other hand is totally understandable if you consider the combo’s super low price. The Peavey Valveking 112 also comes with a buffered effects loop, and a ValveKing speaker.

The amp’s clean channel is where most players start, and I have to admit that it sounds pretty impressive. With a nice guitar you are likely to find the tone you are looking for, no matter the playing style or preferences. Of course, it might take a little bit of tweaking, but eventually you will probably find what you are after. You can easily dial in a tone suitable for funky rhythms or bluesy or country licks.

The lead channel of the Peavey ValveKing 112 is where all the real fun starts, however. The amplifier has bags of gain, and depending on how you set the gain knob, you can play anything from classic blues rock through hard rock to modern super heavy metal. It’s great for rhythm playing as well as shred lead lines.

An extra feature of the ValveKing series that needs to be mentioned is the Texture control. It allows you to switch from pure A class to A/B and anything in between. The tonal result might not be as obvious as you would think, but it definitely is a useful feature that allows for even more versatility.

If I were to name one feature that I like least about this combo, it would have to be the reverb. While it certainly is nice that the amp has one, its quality is not really up to par with all the classic sounds the amp is capable of producing.

To sum up, I have to give the Peavey ValveKing 112 two thumbs up. You are unlikely to find a better all tube amplifier at this price, so if you are looking for a versatile combo amp, you should definitely give the Valveking a try.

Peavey Valveking 112 Combo Amp Video

Here’s a kinda raw but pretty cool video showing the metal side of the Peavey ValveKing 112 combo amp. The video is pretty short and it only features the distorted channel of the amp, but of all the ValveKing 112 videos I watched I liked this one the most. The guitar is tuned down obviously, as the dude is playing mostly Killswitch Engage riffs. For all of you that haven’t heard this kick-ass band – they play excellent, heavy but melodic metalcore, and personally I consider them the masters of truly heavy riffing.

There’s quite a number of the Peavey ValveKing 112 videos online, but most of them focus on the amp’s clean and crunch sounds. While these are great, it’s also good to hear how metal the ValveKing can sound. This is exactly what you can hear in this video. The Peavey 112 ValveKing combo is a very versatile little amp, capable of delivering a variety of tones, from blues, funk, jazz or country to full-blown metal. The most amazing thing about this combo is its price – for the money, you are unlikely to ever get anything better than this amplifier.

Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo

The Peavey ValveKing 112 combo makes the perfect gift. I know, my son, David, received this amp for his twenty-first birthday and the sound is phenomenal. According to David, who is lead guitarist for a known local band in Minnesota, the ValveKing out-does any other amp he has used and he has gone through many.

The Peavey ValveKing 112 combo amp has one 12-inch loudspeaker with a special Peavey design, weighs 44-pounds, has three ECC83/12Ax7 and two 6L6 power amp valves, two channels, a footswitch with independent buttons to change channels, toggles preset volume/distortion boost on the overdrive channel, and the output varies between 30-50-Watts RMS.

“This amp is awesome!” he said. “There is no hum after powering it up.”

David has gone through four amps in the last three years, none of them were Peaveys. The Peavey name stands behind this product and has once again proven itself in the last month. David plays all genres of music and depends on his equipment to give him the versatile sound that he pushes during his gigs.

“I didn’t have as much control from my guitar as I do with the Valveking. This amp is great!” he said.

The Peavey ValveKing 112 combo was a wonderful suprise and the perfect gift for David. The sound is solid, crisp and clear and is perfect for beginner guitarists who need to practice precision. It doesn’t stop there however, the Peavey ValveKing 112 is also supported by professional guitarists. It has features unlike any others.
